Regional Screening
1) president sends election info in October/November to all schools and posts to Mo List Serve
2) president reviews all applications and notifies candidates’ advisors of any problems by Dec 20. Ensure that all candidates meet all requirements and are affiliated members by the deadline
3) president assigns officers duties including timer, ballot counter, relaxer with candidates, question reader, etc. Be sure two students and one adult are in the ballot room
4) Parliamentarian takes care of room arrangements and refreshments for screening
5) Treasurer should reimburse parliamentarian for food expenses
6) Secretary will take roll and ensure the correct number of voting delegates are there
7) President will make copies of all officer applications and ballots for screening
8) Each regional officer NOT running again will bring suggestions for fact and situation questions. This group will meet just before screening and open the state FCCLA question suggestions and share their suggestions. The group will discuss and select questions for each level (regional officer, regional president, state officer, national officer). No one should share information about the questions prior to the screening with anyone.
9) Candidates will draw numbers to determine order of appearance
10) State candidates will be introduced, give speech, answer questions. Then the state candidate ballots will be collected and counted. Anyone running but unsuccessful may continue to run.
11) Repeat for National candidates. Any candidates who have already given a speech but continuing to run will only answer questions in the repeating rounds.
12) Repeat for regional president candidates. The candidate receiving the 2nd most votes is regional 1st vice president
13) Repeat for remaining candidates. Fourteen will be elected in all, including:

Regional president 1st vice president
2nd vice president secretary
Treasurer historian
Reporter parliamentarian
Devotional leader recreational leader
Jr high representative community service project coordinator
14) The new officers will be announced to the group. Immediately following the adjournment, there is a meeting for the incoming and retiring officers.
Incoming/Retiring Officer meeting (immediately following screening/elections)
1) President calls to order
2) President distributes a copy of duties of officers and expectations. Let the group review it again and ask if there are any questions
3) Open nominations for the following offices:
2nd vice president secretary
Treasurer historian
Reporter parliamentarian
Devotional leader recreational leader
Jr high representative community service project coordinator
Ask each candidate to give a brief statement about why they would be a good choice for the specific office. Both old and new officers will vote on the new slate of officers
4) President will give information about the date of installation and location. President will also remind officers of any responsibilities at the state conference.
The president will ask that all officers look for potential uniform suggestions, including specific prices and ordering information, and bring that information to the installation.
5) The president will complete the directory and script for the installation and email to all old and new officers within 2 weeks of screening.
Installation
1) president will take care of reservations, menu, flowers for incoming officers, candles, gavel for installation ceremony
2) devotional leader will create and make 80 copies of program
3) president will have a copy of the script available at the installation table
4) president will give the welcome
5) devotional leader will give the invocation and recognize retiring advisers
6) immediately following the installation, new officers will meet to determine the regional officer uniform (with the exception of the state officers)
7) president and/or treasurer will ensure that the bill is paid
8) All retiring officers will deliver binder/files to incoming officers
SLC executive council meeting
1) 3 weeks prior to SLC meeting, the president will email officers asking for theme ideas and will propose dates for the coming year for retreat, workshop, conference, screening and installation.
2) All officers wishing to have input will respond to the president within 1 week of SLC.
3) Wish good luck to all STAR Events participants—ask them to stand for recognition
4) Recognize any national program award winners or officer candidates
5) The president will have a recommendation for the executive council regarding theme and dates at the SLC meeting. The group will vote to accept dates and theme at this meeting.
6) Workshop topics will be selected by each officer and voted on by the group
7) State VP and other officers who wish to help will write a script for the officer introduction skit and email to all officers by May 1
8) 2nd vice president will revise and email script for workshop and conference to all by May 1
9) All officers will have their parts memorized for the skit by August 1 and be familiar with the script at retreat
10) Treasurer will get a list of all officers planning to attend NLM to help them determine expenses. The region typically keeps $1250 in checking and divides the excess between regional officers and their advisers attending NLM, with the regional president receiving an 1 ½ times that of other officers. These check should be written and sent to schools within two weeks of the end of SLC
Retreat
1) president will make arrangements regarding lodging and meals and get this information to the schools by May 1
2) all officers will rehearse the skit and ceremonies
3) all officers will present their workshops for critiques and suggestions
4) recreational leader will present a get acquainted icebreaker
5) devotional leader will share a devotion
6) state vp will give a state report
7) historian will ask for photos from NLM for slide show
8) president will review duties of each officer for the coming year
